Information for Teachers

Requesting Materials for Your Classroom

If you are in need of books or materials for your classroom, please contact the library by calling 515-432-3727 or emailing the children's librarian, Zach Stier, at zstier@boone.lib.ia.us. For all Boone Public Schools, the school van will deliver your items. For all other schools and classrooms, we will hold items at the Children's Department front desk for pick up.  To view our teacher checkout policy, please click here.

We are proud to support local teachers with materials for their classrooms. In addition to the books and audiobooks you would expect, we have some unique collections that can be checked out and used to help get kids excited about reading! Here are some of the items available:

Felt Boards

From It Looked Like Spilled Milk to There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, we have plenty of felt boards to help children get involved in reading time.

Early Literacy Bags

A whole bag of goodies to enhance a story!  Get your littlest readers excited for lifelong learning!

 

Music CDs

Choose from our music collection of children's classics to get children movin' and groovin'.

Puppets and Reading Props

Using our diverse collection of puppets, you can transform any story by making the characters come to life! We also have several reading props including a Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom tree.

Learning Aides

We have a variety of reading aides that includes language cards, alphabet exercise cards, and reading games. 

Storytime Kits

Everything you need to put on a fantastic storytime! Kits include a book, instructional manual, manipulatives, and more!

LEGO Technic Kits **NEW**

Teachers can request Lego Technic kits for their classroom. The kits available are listed to the right. There are 4 of each kit available. Please contact Mr. Z to reserve your kit!
